The Global Sumud Flotilla, recognized as the largest fleet ever organized to reach Gaza, has begun its mission to deliver humanitarian aid and challenge the ongoing blockade. The first ships departed on 31 August 2025 from Barcelona in Spain and Genoa in Italy, while additional vessels are scheduled to leave on 4 September from Tunisia and Catania in Sicily. This initiative involves around twenty ships carrying over fifteen thousand participants from forty-four countries, including activists, politicians, artists, and journalists, all demonstrating international solidarity with the people of Gaza. Among the notable participants are Greta Thunberg, Susan Sarandon, Liam Cunningham, Maria Mortagua, and Emma Forau.
