On August 11, 2025, Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces launched a brutal attack on the Abu Shouk displacement camp near El Fasher in North Darfur, resulting in the deaths of at least 40 civilians and injuries to more than 19 others. The fighters targeted people inside their homes, killing some by stray bullets and others through deliberate executions. The camp, which provides shelter to around 450,000 displaced individuals, has repeatedly been caught in the crossfire between the RSF and Sudan’s regular military forces.
