Germany to Supply Two Additional Patriot Systems to Ukraine in U.S. Deal

Germany announced on August 1, 2025 that Germany will deliver two additional Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine under an agreement with the United States.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said Germany will send Patriot launchers to Ukraine in the coming days, and full Patriot system components within two to three months.

Germany will receive new upgraded Patriot systems from the United States on an accelerated delivery schedule, funded by Germany, to replace the systems sent to Ukraine.

Germany previously delivered three Patriot systems to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Germany currently maintains nine Patriot systems, with two deployed in southeastern Poland at Rzeszów airport and one used for training Ukrainian crews.

The announcement followed a Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv that killed 31 civilians, including five children, and injured 159 people on July 31, 2025, increasing urgency for Ukraine’s air defence support.

Germany coordinates its delivery through NATO logistics arrangements and invited NATO states such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands to finance purchases of Patriot systems for Ukraine following a July 14, 2025 declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump.
